Manaaement Assistant <br /> ITEM: Plannina Commission Meetina_ Summary for <br /> 10/21/97. <br /> 1 . The Planning Commission representative for the 10/28 Council <br /> Meetina will be Dick Horst. <br /> 2. Concept Reviews: <br /> a. Shawn McCalpine, director of the Silver Lake Salvation <br /> Army Camp, appeared to present proposed changes to their <br /> long-range site plan. Mr. McCalpine reported that they <br /> plan to demolish two of the camp's buildings that have <br /> become old and beyond repair. They are proposing to also <br /> construct a multi-purpose building, in which they will be <br /> able to use for many of their programs. <br /> b. Staff reported on the proposed redevelopment plan for the <br /> • corner of 33rd Avenue NE and Stinson Boulevard, which was <br /> formerly the Clark service station site. Staff reported <br /> that they had been contacted by the developer, Allan <br /> Chazin and the owner, Duane Fischer with plans to <br /> construct a four-unit townhome project. Staff reviewed <br /> the plans and indicated that this item will be on the <br /> November 18th agenda for a public hearing to review a <br /> variance application. The developer is requesting that <br /> he be granted a variance to the front yard setback so <br /> that he can install steps that will be approximately 15 <br /> feet into the setback. <br /> 3 . Other Business: <br /> a. The Planning Commission reviewed the proposed ordinance <br /> revision regarding places of worship, schools; and other <br /> public buildings that are allowed in the City's ' R-1 <br /> zoning district. The Planning Commission suggested some <br /> minor wording changes and voted to recommend its approval <br /> to the City Council. <br /> b. Staff updated the Planning Commission on the <br /> Comprehensive Plan project. Staff reported that the <br /> consultants are putting the comp. plan together for the <br /> distribution to the Met. Council. Staff indicated that <br /> no other comments had been received from other govern- <br /> mental jurisdictions who have received an earlier copy of <br /> the document. <br />
