Because of the work
they did on the ultimate master plan, we asked Tushie-Montgomery to provide us with a proposal
to complete the final construction plans. We asked BRW and Sanders, Wacker, Bergly, Inc to
submit proposals for the project as well. Proposals were received from each company but
subsequent to receiving the proposals, Tushie-Montgomery withdrew. They cited conflict of
interest as the basis for their decision because they want to continue a working relationship with
the Shopping Center owners.
Staff and Dick Krier interviewed the two remaining firms last Wednesday. I have attached a
letter from Mr. Krier describing the interviews and his assessment of the proposals.
Based on the interviews, the proposals and Mr. Krier's assessment, I am recommending that
BRW be selected as the designers for the Village Green project for the following reasons:
• The tack record and relationships that BRW has with the community.
• BRW's project manager's experience in similar urban design projects.
Sincerely,
Michael J. Mornson,
City Manager
Encl.
