Air,my
•
MEMORANDUM
DATE: August 23, 2000
TO: Mayor and Councilmembers
FROM: Michael Mornson, City Manager
ITEM: STAFF REPORT ON 2001 LIVABLE COMMUNITIES ACT
Since 1995, the City of St. Anthony has met or exceeded established livability and affordability
housing goals, as determined by the Metropolitan Council. As an incentive for adopting a
• housing action plan and supporting the Livable Communities Act, the City became eligible for
loans and grants from the Livable Communities Act Fund. St. Anthony also became eligible
for funds from the Department of Trade and Economic Development to clean up certain
polluted sites that might exist in the community. If the City should decide not to continue its
participation in this program, the City will no longer be eligible for any funds associated with
the Livable Communities Act.
The City is not required to expend any funds for Affordable and Life-cycle Housing
Opportunities Amount (ALHOA) because the City continues to meet and maintain its housing
goals.
Since this commitment is required to be renewed annually by each City, attached is a
resolution for the Council's consideration.
•
