City Council Regular Meeting-Minutes.
• November 28, 2000
Page 5

The appraisals for the Harding Area Holding Pond have been completed and offers will be made
in December. The consultant that the City has hired will be making the offers.
Cavanaugh inquired if the Council would be made aware of the prices that the homeowners will
be receiving for the property. City Attorney William Soth noted that, although the Council
would be aware, it would be in the best interest of the City not to make those figures public.
Morrison noted that Staff has been requested to obtain a consultant to review the investment poli-
Gies of the City. He is currently working on that issue.
The task force for the Apache Plaza/Salvation Army property would be holding its next meeting
on January 18, 2001. Consultants and members of the committee have announced that there was
a lot of enthusiasm and positive energy generated from the meeting.
The School Board will meet next Tuesday to adopt the abatement resolutions. On December 11,
2000, the Parks Commission will hold a public hearing.
• 14 Hodson reported that he had received a notice that Santa is coming to town on December 17 and
would be available at certain times throughout December.
Horst reported that he was at the Planning Commission meeting last week, and feels that the
Commissioner Bill Thomas is an excellent source and asset for the Commission. Horst com-
mented that Mr. Thomas has been very informative and helpful in learning about potential grants.
The input the Planning Commission was looking for from the Council was approval for the
Commission to look further into the grants. Horst noted that there are exciting opportunities and
encouraged the Councilmembers to speak with Mr. Thomas about this program.
Thuesen inquired about the Profit and Loss Statement for October, under Stonehouse. He ques-
tioned whether that number was higher than usual. Morrison noted that he would have the appro-
priate person check into that figure and get back to him.
Sparks reported that at one of the last Council meetings there was discussion regarding the
Middle Mississippi Watershed Organization. There have been some developments in the legisla-
ture since then, and the City will have an opportunity to decide whether or not to participate in
the levy.
Sparks expressed some ideas about making the Community Center more inviting to individuals.
She noted that Public Works Director Jay Hartman is working with someone to bring in ideas
and propose a committee to enhance the Community Center.
