ANTHONY <br /> RESOLUTION 01-043 ' <br /> • A RESOLUTION GRANTING CONSENT TO THE SUBURBAN <br /> HENNEPIN REGIONAL PARK DISTRICT TO PURCHASE THE <br /> SALVATION ARMY CAMP PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF ST. ANTHONY <br /> `yHERFEAS, the Suburban Hennepin Regional Park District_(Park District) has expressed its <br /> interest in acquiring the Salvation Army Camp property located in the City of St. Anthony, Minnesota; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS,the Salvation Army Camp property's legal description is, attached hereto as Exhibit <br /> "A"• and <br /> VV.E[EREAS, the Park District's statutory duties include the acquisition, development and <br /> maintenance of large parks, wildlife sanctuaries, forest and other reservations, and means for public <br /> access to historic sites and to lakes,rivers,streams and to other natural phenomena;and <br /> NV=REAS,the Park District operates seven park reserves,nine regional parks, sir regional trail <br /> corridors and two regional special recreational features comprising over 26, 000 acres of land located in <br /> six counties; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Park District's mission is to promote environmental stewardship through <br /> recreation and education in a natural resources based park system;and <br /> NVEEREAS,The Salvation Army desires to sell the camp property to the Park District;and <br /> • WHEREAS, the Park District, in the operation of its regional parks, park reserves and other <br /> facilities has demonstrated its knowledge and experience in developing, administering and maintaining <br /> high quality park facilities; and <br /> WHEREAS,the City recognizes the advantages to the public in having the Park District acquire <br /> and develop a regional park facility in St.Anthony;and <br /> `VE:EREAS, Minn. Stat. Sec. 398.09(b)(1) states that the Park District may not "acquire real <br /> estate by purchase or condemnation which is located within the boundaries of an incorporated statutory <br /> city or city unless the governing body of such statutory city or city shall have consented thereto by <br /> resolution duly adopted'; <br /> NOti�y TB EREFOR ,BE IT RESOLVED;by the City Council of the City of St. Anthony that, <br /> it does hereby grant to-the Park District consent to acquire by purchase the Salvation Army Camp <br /> property as descn'bed on Exhibit A to this resolution. <br /> ADOPTED THIS 13TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 2001. <br /> Mayor <br /> • ATTEST: — • - <br /> City Clerk <br /> Reviewed by Administration: <br /> City Manager <br />
