ST ANTHONY ANNUAL PATROL STATISTICS
The core of any police department is the patrol division. The duties
performed by patrol officers vary from enforcement (i.e. traffic enforcement
and criminal arrests), to everyday general contacts with the public. It could
be said that the patrol division is the "face" of the department.
This is especially true in the case of the St. Anthony Police Department.
The high visibility they provide is a major deterrent for criminal activity.
The patrol staff continued to perform at consistently high levels in 2002.
They issued 2360 citations for moving violations (596 of those for
speeding), and arrested over 700 people, during the course of their patrol
duties. It should also be noted that most of the patrol officers have
additional specific detail assignments, which make demands on their patrol
time. These details vary from being a use of force.instructor, firearms
instructor, crime prevention officer, DARE officer, to a member of the
tactical response unit (joint unit with Roseville PD). Several officers are
responsible for the management and maintenance of the various items and
equipment used by the department on a day-to-day basis.
10
