SIGNIFICANT CASES <br /> The police department works a large variety of criminal cases. <br /> Commonplace arrests for narcotics violations, theft, assault, and damage to <br /> property are part of our everyday caseload. However, to give the citizens an <br /> idea of some of the more significant cases worked this year, we would <br /> submit the following (this list is by no means exhaustive of the police <br /> department's yearly case load): <br /> • Burglary of Residence (02-000153) — Resident came home to find the <br /> house had been forcibly entered and burglarized. Extensive <br /> investigation yielded the arrest of one juvenile male. Loss recovered <br /> from a Minneapolis home. <br /> • First Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct — Adult male met juvenile male <br /> victim on an internet talk.group. Adult male ultimately had sexual <br /> contact and penetration with juvenile male. Investigation identified <br /> the adult male suspect. Search warrant executed and computer and <br /> peripherals seized. One.adult male arrested. Worked with the <br /> Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force regarding forensic <br /> examination of computer. Adult male ultimately charged with <br /> soliciting minor for sex. <br /> • Terroristic Threat (02-001772) — Bomb threat called into the high <br /> school. Extensive investigation resulted in the arrest of one juvenile <br /> male. Juvenile male ultimately petitioned to Hennepin County for <br /> terroristic threats. <br /> • Burglary of Business (02-002273) — Squads responded to burglary in <br /> progress. Two adult males arrested at scene after foot chase. <br /> Criminal investigation resulted in the execution of two search <br /> warrants, recovery of a safe and additional property, and the arrest of <br /> three additional adult males. <br /> • First Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct — Five-year-old female <br /> victimized by her 12-year-old stepbrother. Investigators worked with <br /> both families and ultimately arrested one juvenile male. Juvenile <br /> male was petitioned to Hennepin County for the offense. <br /> 12 <br />
