Childs, City Manager <br /> ------------------------------------------------------------------------ <br /> SUMMARY DISCUSSION OF SUBJECT: This is a request from Bill Flaherty to allow <br /> construction of a garage on the west side of his home located at 3208 Rankin Road. <br /> The addition would come within 7 feet of the property line , which is currently <br /> defined as the rear yard and therefore a setback of 25' is required. You will note <br /> that some years ago, an addition was allowed on the rear of the house by a variance <br /> with one of the reasons being the large side yard on the south. <br /> ALTERNATIVES : <br /> RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that a policy be set by the Commission as follows : <br /> ''On a corner lot, the narrow side shall be defined as the front yard and said front <br /> yard for Zoning Ordinance interpretation purposes should not be based on the place- <br /> ment of the front door of the house or the street address''.
