• STAFF REPORT <br /> DATE: October 13, 1993 <br /> TO: Planning Commission <br /> FROM: David Mark Urbia, Management Assistant <br /> ITEM: PETITION FOR SIGN VARIANCE,JAKE CADWALLADER-OWNER-REALTY <br /> WORLD - CADWALLADER, 3800 APACHE LANE <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The new owner wishes to retain the existing sign and install new sign covers. <br /> This requires a variance as it exceeds the roof line more than five feet. This <br /> request is not similar to the Northgate Office Park sign. The Northgate Office <br /> Park replacement sign was allowed under 1400.08, Subd. 15 (page 14-9, revised <br /> 7/21/93). The current request could not be granted under this section, as it does <br /> not lawfully exist. <br /> The proposed total sign area is 64 square feet. The maximum allowable wall sign <br /> area is 150 square feet. The two-sided sign could be allowed, as there are two <br /> frontages. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> If the variance is granted, hardship must be found. Visibility and business <br /> location issues could be a consideration. <br /> • <br />
