STAFF REPORT
DATE: October 12, 1993
TO: Planning Commission
FROM: David Mark Urbia, Management Assistant
ITEM: MISCELLANEOUS
A. Council Referred Item -- Application for Garage Setback Permit, Scott D. Barton, 3515
Harding Street Northeast.
The Council referred the proposal to the Planning Commission, due to the applicant's
request for a modified proposal. The modified proposal would have a five foot setback
at the front of the garage and a four foot eight inch setback at the rear of the garage.
The modified proposal would allow the applicant to square the garage to the house to
better facilitate the construction of the breezeway between the two structures.
B. Council Referred Item -- Discussion of proposed Ordinance 1992-012.
• The Planning Commission noted ordinance language that unduly prohibited potentially
beneficial drainage systems. The ordinance could be amended to prohibit the drainage
systems from being within five feet of any property line. The current interpretation
would prohibit the drainage systems from going into any required yard (setback), which
causes homes that are at the setback line to only have five feet of extension area.
C. Council Referred Item -- Planning Commission Appointment Limits.
This item was presented by a Planning Commissioner to the City Manager. The
Manager put this item for discussion on the October 5th Council Work Session agenda.
The City Council saw some merit to the idea, but wanted input from the Planning
Commission.
