Table of Chapters C, <br /> ble of contents for Chapter 7 <br /> 7510.3540 ARTICLE 8 - ADULT DAY CARE CENTERS AND SUPERVISED <br /> LIVING FACILITIES. <br /> The Uniform -Fire Code is amended by adding an Article 8 to <br /> read: <br /> ARTICLE 8 - ADULT DAY CARE CENTERS <br /> AND SUPERVISED LIVING FACILITIES <br /> 8.1 General. Adult day care centers and supervised living <br /> facilities shall meet the requirements of this article. <br /> 8.2 Classification of Adult Day Care Centers. Adult day care <br /> centers are classified in accordance with the following and must <br /> meet the fire safety requirements for the designated occupancy <br /> classification. <br /> 8.2.1 Serving only participants capable of Self-preservation. <br /> Centers serving only participants who' are capable of taking <br /> appropriate action for self-preservation under emergency <br /> conditions shall meet all applicable requirements for Group E, <br /> Division 3 Occupancies. <br /> 8.2.2 Serving only participants not capable of <br /> self-preservation. Centers serving only participants who are <br /> not capable of taking appropriate action for self-preservation <br /> under emergency conditions shall meet all applicable <br /> requirements for Group 1, Division 2 occupancies. <br /> 8.2.3 Serving both participants capable and participants not <br /> capable of Belt-preservation. Centers serving a population that <br /> includes both participants who are capable and participants who <br /> are not capable of taking appropriate action for <br /> self-preservation under emergency conditions shall meet the <br /> occupancy requirements for Group I, Division 2 or Group E, <br /> Division 3 occupancies. In addition to the requirements for <br /> Group E, Division 3 occupancies, the center shall meet the <br /> requirements set forth in this section. <br /> 8.2.3.1 Population. Not more than 50 percent of the center's <br /> licensed capacity shall be made up of participants who are not <br /> capable of taking appropriate action for self-preservation under <br /> emergency conditions. <br /> 8.2.3.2 Location. The center must be located on a floor level <br /> with all exits directly to grade without any intervening stairs . <br /> 8.2.3.3 Fire alarm and detection. The center shall be protected <br /> with a complete automatic fire detection system consisting of <br /> automatic smoke detection in all corridors and at the top of all <br /> stairways and automatic detection in boiler and furnace rooms, <br /> kitchens, storage rooms, janitor closets, laundries, and other <br /> hazardous areas.
