DATE: April 21, 1982 • TO: Donald Hickerson, Chief of Police FROM: R. Engstrom, Investigator SUBJECT: Case Status For March, 1982 I screened fifty-five (55) new cases for March, 1982 . Sixteen (16) of those cases met the criteria for an active investiga- tion. I also carried eleven (11) cases from previous months. Five (5) of those were closed out by complaints. One (1) was closed out due to lack of sufficient evidence. Seventeen (17) suspects have been developed in those cases in- vestigated in March of 1982 . Only two (2) have been formally charged along with five ( 5) others from previous months. Both Ramsey and Hennepin Counties have cases involving ten ( 10) sus- pects to be charged and charges are pending on two (2) others as of the date of this memorandum. Residential burglary and theft from auto are the highest re- ported incidents of crime for March, 1982 . we had four ( 4) major burglary groups working in our city since January of this year. Most have been identified and our officers are aware of the suspects ' identities and vehicles. • Of those cases investigated for March, 1982 , are as follows: 2 - Aggravated Forgeries 3 - Suspects 2 - Charged 2 - Felony Theft 4 - Suspects Pending 4 - Burglary-Residence 4 - Suspects Pending 3 - Theft From Business 3 - Suspects 2 - Charged 1 - Criminal Sexual Conduct - 4th degree 1 - Incest 1 - Suspect Pending 1 - Auto Theft 2 - Suspects Pending 1 - Child Abuse 1 - Suspect Cleared by Court 1 - Possession Sm. Amt. M.J. 1 - Suspect Cited Suspect developed by Ramsey County Sheriff' s Office (Sting Operation) Total loss from thefts and burglaries $ 70, 679. 56 Total loss from vandalism 1 , 857. 00 Total receiving of stolen property 18, 516 . 99 Two (2) Search warrants were executed in March. •
