Childs , City Manager <br /> ------------------------------------------------------------------------ <br /> SUMMARY DISCUSSION OF SUBJECT: St. Anthony City employees, including fu.11 <br /> time, permanent parttime and volunteers (police and fire reserves) have a record <br /> of long tenure with the City coupled with dedicated and faithful service. Loyal <br /> and experienced employees are an asset to the City in many ways. Formal recog- <br /> nition of long-term service by our employees has not , to my knowledge, been done <br /> in the past. I propose a program of service recognition for the approximately <br /> 80 permanent employees (including reserve police and firemen) . The program would <br /> be made up as follows: <br /> 5 years of service - presentation of a service pin with one star on a stick pin or <br /> • lapel pin for women and on a tie tac or lapel pin for men <br /> (basic set) <br /> 10 years of service - service emblem with 2 stars mounted on choice of key holder, <br /> brooch, belt buckle, circle pin or basic set. <br /> 15 years of service - service emblem with 3 stars on choice of lighter, knife , <br /> bracelet, necklace or any of above. <br /> 20 years of service - service emblem with 4 stars on choice of any of above. <br /> 25_-years-.of service - service emblem with 5 stars on ring or any of above. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT: With 80 employees, an average of 16 wi l l receive service awards <br /> each year. There is a $250 initial die charge, and the 5 year cost (at today' s <br /> prices) would be about $2,375 or $475 per year. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: A resolution, attached , is necessary to accomplish the. program <br /> and I recommend its adoption.
