Agenda Item: Reports-4a Status : Informational <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE : June 21 , 1983 <br /> TO: David Childs , City Manager <br /> Department Heads <br /> FROM: Connie Kroeplin, Administrative Secretary <br /> SUBJECT: Staff Meetinq Notes - June 21 , 1983 <br /> ----------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> The meeting began at 10 : 15 A.M. Present were Don Dickerson, Ray <br /> Nelson, Lee Entner, Connie Kroeplin , Dave Childs , Larry Hamer , and <br /> Carol Johnson. <br /> Larry Hamer began by informing those present that Herman Weber, who <br /> was hospitalized Last week, will return to work in about two weeks . <br /> Throughout the entire meeting the Department Heads discussed various <br /> items concerning the fitness program. Most participants have completed <br /> the somewhat strenuous check up by the consultant and have received <br /> their individual exercise guidelines . Among the Department Heads , <br /> there appears to be a very enthusiastic response to this program. <br /> The Police Reserves are continuing the house checks . Chief Hickerson <br /> also said two of them will assist New Brighton during that City ' s <br /> annual Stockyard Days this weekend (June 24th) . The Reserves will <br /> also he included with the nest of the Police officers in the 40 hour <br /> Crash Injury Management course (,first aid) , which will be instructed <br /> by Officer Jeff Luther . <br /> Apache Plaza will be celebrating Ok.t.ober_fest again this year and <br /> have contacted Ray Nelson concerning operation of a beer garden during <br /> the festivities . Mr . Nelson has suggested selling beer mugs with <br /> some slogan or picture might be a sales incentive . Fie also indicated <br /> the Public Works Department is working on improvements at the Stonehouse. <br /> .Lee Entner presented several informational items - the Fire Department <br /> will receive another_ heart aid within the next couple of months ; <br /> an improved mutual aid system between Roseville and St . Anthony ; the <br /> pumper_ specs are very near completion; and there has been no response <br /> on the request for reimbursement of costs relating to the siren as <br /> yet. <br /> The Minnesota State Fire Chiefs , which Mr . Entner is an active member , <br /> has formed a committee to set up a fund for the families of deceased <br /> firefighters and establish a visual memorial at the Twin Cities <br /> International Airport, such as the Police have done for their. members . <br /> • He said they are ahead of schedule on this project . <br />
