D - Build a second floor over the present classrooms. •
1 - Advantage - no yard space consumed.
2 - Disadvantage - costly since entire roof would have to be removed;
this taller structure would detract from the overall appear-
ance of the church. not sure whether the present footing are
a equate to support the added weight..__ still need larger
kitc en ,-narthex and restrooms.
E - New sanctuary and classrooms at the north end of the property.
1 - Advantages - new larger facility and classrooms away from
property line; no need to change present facility.
2 - Disadvantages - too costly at this time (9750.000) ; will still
need to enlarge kitchen and add restrooms; tn-Ls plan is
in the future plans when we experience further growth.
H' Present plan as proposed.
1 - Advantage - sanctuary can be enlarged for the least possible
cost; additional classrooms and a fellowship hall can be added
within the same structure for lowest cost; new kitchen to
be located in the most desireable area" narthex and
added restrooms, all contained In the same construction area;
proximity to the present service lines; use of the fellow-
ship hall to provide additional seating for the sanctuary over- .
flow; full-fill our T;i-(,ds for the next 5 to 10 years; provide
an overall buildinL, thgtrwill he an aesthetic asset to the area,
since the church was originally dasigned with this addition in
mind; it is, by far, the least costly, estimated at >150.000.
It should.he -minted out that a site plan was draw on 6/7/63 and approved
by the planning n.nning commission on 7/20/64_: shows this very nlan ac a f'nture
-Ytension. It also shows the future sanctuary at the north ena. The
builcili ng permit for the church was granted to Elmwood on 7/28/64, which
is 18 months prior to the Esau residence (1/7/66) and 15 months prior
to the Antczak residence (10/19/65) . We feel that since this expansion
area was originally approved and that the church was first to obtain their
building permit, that we should be allowed to continue with this plan.
It is really the only feasible plan that can meet our needs and fit into
our budget at this time. The proposed structure would be about _24--feet
in height which is within a .foot of the height of a two-story hone. Since
our building lies to the north of the affected property owners, there would
be no obstruction of sunlight nor would the prevailing winds be blocked.
We are more than willing to plant extra shrubbery along the line and also
to provide drain tile for water runoff if that is also desired.
We certainly do not wish to create bad feelings within the neighborhood
and we want the church to be an asset to the community, however we do
feel that this is a necessary and proper .proposal and will meet build_Ing
and city codes. We would appreciate .the City granting us the necessary
rear-yard setback and subsequent permit to proceed. Thank You..
Respectfully submitted,
Dick Jones, Trustee
