Agenda Item: Reports-4b Status: Informational <br /> • MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: August 19 , 19.83 <br /> TO: Department Heads <br /> FROM: David Childs , City Manager <br /> SUBJECT: Staff Meeting Notes - August 16 , 1983 <br /> The meeting began at 9 : 30 A.M. Those present were Dave Childs , Larry <br /> Hamer, Ray Nelson, Carol Johnson, Don Hickerson, and Lee Entner . <br /> Connie Kroeplin was absent. <br /> Ray Nelson reported that it appears that the new liquor store at <br /> 26th and Central is cutting into the business of our off sale on <br /> Kenzie Terrace. He has checked prices and although we are lower, the <br /> convenience factor for many of our regular customers who live in that <br /> area is causing them to buy closer to home. <br /> Larry Hamer reported that : <br /> 1. The sewer line in Edward Street between 36th and 37th will be <br /> • repaired during the next week or so. The company that does the <br /> lining process cannot install the liner until two major breaks <br /> in the line are .repair.ed. This means that a' small portion of the <br /> street will still have to be dug up, but nowhere near the 390 <br /> feet which would otherwise need to be excavated if the line were <br /> replaced. When the two repairs are completed, the line will be <br /> retelevised and if everything is in order, the lining process will <br /> begin shortly thereafter. <br /> 2 . The sealcoating will be swept up the week of the 15th and the sand <br /> will be saved for ice control on the streets use this winter. It <br /> should be noted that sealcoating was done in two phases this year. <br /> Sand swept up from the first phase was saved for use on the second <br /> phase. Sand swept from phase 2 will be used for ice control as <br /> noted and sand swept up next spring from winter sanding will be <br /> used as backfill -material for water and sewer line repairs . <br /> Larry Hamer also mentioned pending repairs to the overhead doors at the <br /> fire hall and to the chimney at the Stonehouse . <br /> Carol Johnson reported that during the past several months our com- <br /> puter service has- been. changing over to a newer machine . A few days• <br /> ago the old computer broke down and because of the unfeasibility of <br /> repairing it, the changeover must be made immediately . Carol stated <br /> that she will be very busy verifying 6 month- figures for entry into <br /> the new computer . <br /> • <br />
