ST-. ANTHONY CHEMICAL ABUSE INFORMATION -COMMITTEE <br /> September 20, 1983 <br /> Present: Jean Klosterman, .Barb Ma,lrick,. Tom Lindskog, Pat Beaubien, Evelyn Holthus, <br /> and guests Duane Googins, Chris Clauson, -Dave Bordwell and Mary -Medved. <br /> President Jean Klosterman skipped to- report on Youth Service Bureau for the <br /> convenience of our guests. Youth Service Bureau is to be established in St.- Anthony. <br /> One counselor is to be hired to serve under the director, .Chris Clallson, in close <br /> interaction with both school and -community. - The counselor will ,do youth intervention. <br /> with 12-18 year olds with a family therapy focus. The grant is for one year. Local <br /> funding will be. ndcessa ' for -further years. The cost- to fund youth service is based <br /> ry <br /> on population of the locality. Candidates for counselor have been interviewed and <br /> the process included Duane Googins, Evelyn Holthus, Mary Medved and.Al Rosinski. <br /> The bureau would .like our committee to serve as an advisory board to the counselor/ <br /> bureau. - It would be necessary- to add a student, .clergy, and possible city council <br /> member to serve this function. Those present agreed to fulfill this role and <br /> Evelyn will check with the City Council about adding appropriate members. (Two <br /> ad-hoc members may be added to serve only as advisors, not as CAIC -members.) <br /> Tom Lindskog and Mary Medved presented information about the chemical <br /> people program on November 1, 2 and 3. Dave Bordwell, representing Kiwanas, re- <br /> Marked.on 'the excellentadvertising taking place. Evelyn repqrted. that a video <br /> tapeencouraging participation- will be shown to the teachers. Shewill co-ordinate <br /> the schools response. Suggestions on' how to promote the program and set up town <br /> meetings were discussed. <br /> 1. Reserve spac e for meeting and viewing (50-75) people each <br /> town meeting. Evelyn' (H.S. & M.S.) , Mary (Parkview and <br /> Wilshire) , and Dave Bordwell(Nativity) . <br /> 2. Contact service organization and churches explaining <br /> program and distributing workbook on how to set up <br /> town meeting. Calls will be made immediately to invite <br /> to a .meeting on 9/26/83 and 8:00 in the library (changed <br /> to Room 300) . <br /> 3. Publicize town meeting places. <br /> Old Business: <br /> Packets on the role of the church in chemical use prevention/intervention <br /> will be distributed by Evelyn to the 4 churches. Literature for liquor stores was <br /> placed in August for "client" distribution. <br /> St. Anthony City Newsletter could not print our article, suggested that we <br /> print aseparate sheet that could be included in the mailing. Cost would be about <br />
