Childs <br /> City Manager <br /> City of St. Anthony <br /> 3301 Silver Lake Road <br /> Minneapolis, Minesota 55418 <br /> Re: Water Contamination <br /> Dear Dave : <br /> As you know I had lunch some time ago with John Drawz <br /> of the LeFevere law firm to discuss their work on behalf of <br /> New Brighton in connection with the water contamination issues . <br /> We discussed their legal .work in only very general terms, and <br /> I feel that it would be advisable for St . Anthony to have the <br /> benefit of more detailed information. John indicated a willing- <br /> ness to discuss these matters further with someone from our <br /> office and to make their files available for our review. <br /> Although St . Anthony has no serious problem at this <br /> time, and although I am sure the Council does not want to incur <br /> substantial legal expenses at this time in connection with <br /> these matters, I do feel that we should make some preliminary <br /> review to make sure that St. Anthony is not forfeiting any <br /> rights it may have with respect to these matters, either by <br /> failure to take action prior to expiration of any statute of <br /> limitation or for any other reason. <br /> John Drawz did indicate that if he were to spend <br /> time with -someone from our office providing us with this infor- <br /> mation, St. Anthony would have to pay for his time rather than <br /> New Brighton. I would estimate that the total fees for their <br /> firm and our firm in order to obtain the benefit of their infor- <br /> mation probably would not be more than $2, 000 . I would hope <br /> we would be able to conclude that it is not necessary for <br /> St. Anthony to take any action at this time, but we cannot <br /> • conclude that now without looking into the matter further. <br />
