<br /> Motion by Councilman Marks and seconded by Councilman Makowske to approve
<br /> payment of all verified claims for April 30 and May 8 in the May 8, 1984
<br /> Council agenda; $1,510.20 to Edward J. Hance for April prosecutions; and
<br /> $1,211.50 to Dickson Electric for electrical improvements for the Police
<br /> Department facilities.
<br /> Motion carried unanimously.
<br /> Mayor Sundland indicated he wanted to go on record as expressing heartfelt
<br /> gratitude for the extraordinary efforts put forth after the tornado April 26
<br /> by the Chiefs of the Police and Fire Departments and members of those
<br /> d,epartments;-L-arry-Hamer-and-hi-s-cr--ews; Counc-i-l-and-staf-f-member-s-and--the
<br /> rapid response of Govenor Perpich and state officials; the National Guard;
<br /> Hennepin County Sheriff; the Red Cross and Salvation Army; workers from
<br /> other communities as well as the innumerable volunteers from the City and
<br /> surrounding communities. Councilman Ranallo commented that he perceived
<br /> the most effective way for the City to express its gratitude to the many
<br /> people, churches, agencies and organizations who had responded after the
<br /> disaster, -would be through personal letters and letters to the Editors,
<br /> • which are being taken care of now.
<br /> Mayor Sundland indicated he wanted to especially thank Dave Childs for his
<br /> untiring efforts during the emergency in spite of the fact that his own
<br /> home was damaged and the safety of some of his children was in question at
<br /> one time. A round of applause followed this statement.
