STAFF MEETING NOTES <br /> August 15, 1989 <br /> The meeting began at 10:05 A.M. Those present were Larry Hamer, <br /> Lee Entner, Sue VanderHeyden, Connie Kroeplin, Don Hickerson, and <br /> Ray Nelson. <br /> Larry Hamer <br /> 1. Jim Brost needs a back operation which will require him to be <br /> away from work from 6 to 8 weeks. <br /> 2. Jim Lorbeski also needs surgery (_hernia) and expects to be <br /> away from work for approximately a week sometime in early <br /> September. <br /> 3. Several kinds of trees besides the elm, i.e. , Mountain Ash, <br /> apple, are found to be diseased this year. Mr. Hamer feels <br /> the drought is the main reason for the numerous diseased <br /> trees. Additionally, Mr. Hamer indicated a decision must be <br /> made regarding tree replacement on the boulevards. <br /> 4. All the crosswalks have been painted. <br /> • 5. The construction in the kitchen at Apache Wells is 90% <br /> completed. <br /> 6. Beginning August 17th, some of the gate valves will be <br /> replaced. <br /> 7. The sewers will be cleaned using New Brighton's jet machine <br /> (pay back for use of our televising equipment) starting in two <br /> weeks. <br /> 8. Well #3 is operating, however, the bearings appear to be too <br /> tight. They are expected to loosen in time. <br /> 9. Carbon change-over will begin August 16th. The process takes <br /> about two weeks. <br /> 10. The City's water supply is fine. The odd/even system appears <br /> to be working. <br /> Don Hickerson <br /> 1. Chief Hickerson has received a copy of the extensive study <br /> done by New Brighton on FAX machines. That city recommended <br /> Pitney Bowes due to the clarity of such things as photos and <br /> fingerprints. New Brighton opted to rent rather than purchase <br /> • a FAX because they believe there will be many improvements and <br /> changes to the FAX in the near future. <br />
