Council Meeting <br /> January 9, 1990 . <br /> page 11 <br /> 1 which added members of the City Council and City Planning Commission to <br /> 2 the list of insured under the City of -St. Anthony workers' compensation <br /> 3 coverage. <br /> 4 <br /> 5 Motion carried unanimously <br /> 6 <br /> 7 <br /> 8 J. Resolution No. 90-008; Designating a Public Health Officer <br /> 9 The City Manager advised he will inquire if Dr. Carr would be interested <br /> 10 in acting as the City' s Health Officer. It was noted that Dr. Carr had <br /> 12 recently retired. Mayor Pro-tem Ranallo inquired i.f a medical doctor was <br /> 13 necessary to fill this position. He suggested staff explore the services <br /> 14 of a dentist or a public health nurse. The Council took no action on this <br /> 15 matter. <br /> 16. <br /> 17 Mayor Pro-tem Ranallo requested. Sue VanderHenyden, Assistant to the City <br /> 18 Manager, to contact all of the civic and community organizations advising <br /> 19 them of the deadline for the next City newsletter. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 Councilmember Marks requested the City Manager to acknowledge via a memo <br /> 22 to the Public Works Department the good work they have been doing during <br /> 23 the recent cold weather. He noted that there was a watermain. break during <br /> 24 some bitterly cold weather and the Public Works personnel had done a very <br /> 25 good job repairing it, in spite of the weather. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 Mayor Pro-tem Ranallo reminded the Council that one of its goals for this <br /> 28 year was to hold a City Christmas party. <br /> 29 <br /> 30 Mayor Pro-tem Ranallo also advised of an Open House scheduled for February <br /> 31 12th to welcome-the City Manager. It will be held in City Hall from 4:00 p.m. <br /> 32 until 7:00 p.m. and the community residents are invited to attend. <br /> 33 <br /> 34 There is also a reception for Lee Etner, outgoing Fire Chief, scheduled for <br /> 35 January 12th in City Hall from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 Mayor Pro-tem Ranallo acknowledged the presence of Kenny Limensky, who was <br /> 38 attending the Council meeting. He is pursuing a merit badge for the Boy <br /> 39 Scouts. <br /> 40 <br /> 41 Dennis Cavanaugh, a resident , stated he is interested in proceeding with <br /> 42 cable programs within the City and of Council meetings. He noted that 36% <br /> 43 of St. Anthony's residents subscribe to cable television and that the City <br /> 44 is the only one of ten who do not use its community channel . Cable channel <br /> 45 #16 is for the exclusive use by the community. <br /> 46 <br /> 47 Mayor Pro-tem Ranallo advised him that the Council has discussed the matter <br /> • 48 of televising council meetings quite extensively. He noted that the posture <br /> 4.9 of the City is very conservative and to hire a cable employee would be quite <br /> 50 costly.
