ROLL CALL <br /> _ ly <br /> 15 Present: Mayor Ranallo, Councilmembers Makowske, Marks, Wagner 6 Enrooth <br /> 16 Staff present : City Manager Burt and Assistant to the City Manager Vander- <br /> 17 Heyden <br /> 18 <br /> 19 REQUESTED PUBLIC APPEARANCE <br /> 20 <br /> 21 Ramsey County Public Works - Road Construction on Silver Lake Road <br /> 22 Paul Kirkwold, Department Director for Ramsey County Projects, appeared <br /> 23 at the Council meeting to make a presentation of proposed roadway imp- <br /> 24 rovements to and widening of Silver Lake Road, Silver Lane to 1694. <br /> 25 <br /> • 26 Mr. Kirkwold stated that the objective of this project is to improve <br /> 27 traffic flow, improve operation of some of the intersections, accommodate <br /> 28 load and vehicular capacity and make general topographical corrections <br /> 29 as needed. Mr. Kirkwold noted that the presentation he is making to the <br /> 30 St. Anthony City Council was previously made to the Metropolitan Council . <br /> 31 The only privately-owned property which would be affected is the Salvation <br /> 32 Army Camp grounds and one or two residences on Silver Lane. <br /> 33 <br /> 34 With the use of overhead slides, Mr. Kirkwold reviewed all of the alter- <br /> 35 natives being considered for this project. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 The first alternative proposed a four lane roadway and sidewalks-on <br /> 38 both sides of Silver Lake Road. The intersections located at Forest <br /> 39 Dale Road and Silver Lake Road and at Seventh Street and Silver Lake <br /> 40 Road would be realigned into four lane intersections with a center <br /> 41 left turn lane and a cul-de-sac at Eighth Street. <br /> 42 <br /> 43 Alternative Two is proposed to be a four lane divided roadway with <br /> 44 sidewalks on both sides the entire length of the project. . There would <br /> 45 be no major design changes from the present roadway but there would be <br /> 46 protected left turn lanes at major intersections. <br /> 47 <br /> 48 It is the intent of the design engineers that the appearance of being <br /> 49 a very wide roadway be removed from the project, therefore, they are <br /> 50 <br /> i <br />
