Alwan , owner of Sheik ' s Garden Restaurant , is <br /> 12 considering having up to thirty amusement devices in his <br /> 13 operation . Presently, he is allowed only three . Mr. Alwan <br /> 14 had stated at the Commission Meeting these amusement <br /> 15 devices would afford him an opportunity to generate -more <br /> 16 revenue in the older , rear portion of his restaurant . He <br /> 17 felt these devices would be in keeping with his business <br /> 18 which will focus on families . <br /> 19 <br /> 20 Commissioner Murphy observed that if Ordinance No . 1992- <br /> 21 001 were approved, it would be much easier to monitor the <br /> 22 operation . This ordinance would allow only the operator <br /> 23 of the establishment to hold the licenses to the <br /> 24 amusement devices with nc more than thirty-five devices <br /> 25 being allowec in one location . <br /> 26 <br /> 27 Staff had also made recommendations for five conditions • <br /> 28 for granting approval of this request . They are as <br /> 29 follows : <br /> 30 <br /> 31 1 . The arcade shall prohibit tobacco, a1coh•_--�1 , and <br /> 32 drugs on the premises . <br /> 33 <br /> 34 2 . The arcade shall prohibit individuals under the <br /> 35 influence of tobacco , alcohol or drugs . <br /> 36 <br /> 37 3 . Proper supervision should be available at all times <br /> 38 to ensure appropriate conduct and behavior . <br /> 39 <br /> 40 4 . The access from kitchen to dining area shall be <br /> 41 segregated to ensure safety. <br /> 42 <br /> 43 S . The number of amusement devices allowed will be <br /> 44 dependent_ upon the available number of amusement <br /> 45 device licenses and available space within the area <br /> 46 designated on the proposed plan . <br /> 47 <br /> 48 Commissioner Murphy noted -that the five recommendations <br /> 49 of staff were included in the recommendation for approval <br /> 50 from the Planning Commission . Also, included in the <br /> Z1 Commission ' s recommendation was to require an annual <br /> 52 review by the Police Chief and staff with the owner . The <br /> 5' history of police calls and disturbances as well as • <br /> 54 complaints would be reviewed . <br />
