WINDOW SIGN: A sign affixed to or inside a window in view of the <br /> 4 general public, but excluding merchandise on display. <br /> 5 1400.05 APPLICATION. <br /> 6 Subd. 1. CONFORMITY: No sign may be erected, placed, altered or moved <br /> 7 unless in conformity with this.Chapter. <br /> 8 Subd. 2. OTHER CODE PROVISIONS: Nothing in this Chapter may be taken <br /> 9 to relieve any person from complying with the provisions of any other Chapter of the <br /> 10 City Code. <br /> 11 1400.06 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS. <br /> 12 Subd. 1. SIGN PERMIT NOT REQUIRED: The changing of the advertising <br /> 13 message of a painted or printed sign, theater marquee or changeable copy sign, and <br /> 14 the painting, repainting and cleaning of signs will not require a sign permit, but will <br /> 15 otherwise be done in compliance with the Chapter and any other applicable law or <br /> 16 section of this Code. <br /> 17 Subd. 2. HAZARD AND HAZARDOUS SIGNS: No sign may by reason of <br /> 18 its location, color or intensity, create a hazard to the safe and efficient movement of <br /> 19 vehicles or pedestrian traffic. No private sign may contain words which might be <br /> 20 construed as traffic controls, such as "Stop", "Caution", "Warning", or otherwise <br /> 21 resemble any official marker erected by a governmental body or agency, unless such <br /> 22 sign is a directional sign. <br /> 23 Subd. 3. FRAMEWORK OF SIGNS: When possible, the framework for the <br /> 24 lateral support of a sign must be contained within the sign's°body or within the <br /> 25 structure of the building to which it is attached so as not to be visible. <br /> 26 Subd. 4. . PLACEMENT OF SIGNS: No sign, or attachment to it, may be <br /> 27 erected, placed or maintained by any person on rocks, fences, or trees, nor in such <br /> 28 a manner as to interfere with any electric lights, power, telephone or telegraph wires, <br /> 29 or the supports thereof. <br /> 30 Subd. 5. MAINTENANCE: All signs, together with all of their supports,braces, <br /> 31 guys and anchors, must be kept neatly painted and posted.
