I REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
MAY 11 , 1993
PAGE 8

This was for informational purposes only . No Council
action was taken .

C . _Reports of the City Council

1 . Report of Councilmember Wagner

Councilmember Wagner attended the recent board meeting of
the Apache Plaza Merchants Association . He reported that
a statement was made which suggested the City is delaying
the final plans for the CUB Store in that a walkway is
being requested . Supposedly, this walkway is to be
located between the CUB Store and the shopping center .

Councilmember Wagner corrected this misinformation in
that the walkway is being opposed by the CUB store
representatives and not the City.

He noted that the Association continues to do a very good
job of planning events in the shopping center which
attract large numbers of people. One of these events was
a Health Fair which attracted 3 , 000 people .

Councilmember Wagner attended a meeting of the .Community
Service Advisory Council . School Superintendent Rolig is
conducting a very thorough analysis of the needs at the
Community Center and of Wilshire Park School .

Mayor Ranallo stated that the school ' s lease for use of
the Community Center expires on November -1st . City
Manager Burt noted that the City ' s Finance Director has
advised him that the operating costs of the Center have
increased substantially since the initial lease was
signed .

2 . Report of Councilmember Flemina

Councilmember Fleming received a call from a resident of
Walker Residence regarding the drive through traffic
behind the bowling alley . Most of this traffic appears to
be going to the Town & Country Market .

The City Manager recalled there had been a sign posted
which cautioned this was not a drive through. It had been
knocked down . Hennepin County has indicated it intends to
place a barrier in that location .
•
