City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> February 25, 1,997 <br /> Page 2 <br /> 1 Councilmember Wagner asked if all garbage haulers were required to provide recycling <br /> 2 services. City Manager Momson stated he would check on that item. <br /> 3 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 4 VI. PRESENTATION OF CLAIMS. <br /> 5 Motion by Wagner, second by Faust to approve the following claims: <br /> 6 <br /> 7 A. ...Foster, Oiile, Wentzell & Brever in the amount of$2,600.00 for professional services <br /> 8 rendered for the month of February 1997. <br /> 9 B. 3 pages of Verified Claims as presented by the Finance Director: <br /> 10 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 11 Mayor Ranallo arrived at 7:04 P.M. He acknowledged long time resident and business person <br /> 12 of St. Anthony, Jerry Kelly, who passed away last week. Jerry had given much to the <br /> 13 community and Mayor acknowledged all the hard and good work he had done. <br /> 14 VII. REPORTS. <br /> 15 Police Chief Engstrom introduced Jeremy Sroga and Doug Barland who were both hired to <br /> 16 the St. Anthony Police Force in December of 1996. • <br /> 17 Jeremy Sroga, stated he was born and raised in St. Anthony and his father is a business owner <br /> 18 in the City. He graduated from St. Anthony High School and obtained his Law Enforcement <br /> 19 Degree at Metropolitan State University. Mr. Sroga stated he is fortunate to have this <br /> 20 position and looks forward to working with the Council in the future. <br /> 21 Doug Barland, introduced his wife Sandy, and stated he graduated from Coon Rapids High <br /> 22 School in 1989 and his father was a member of the Coon Rapids Police Department. He <br /> 23 graduated from St. Thomas University and obtained his Law Enforcement Degree from <br /> 24 Metropolitan State University. Mr. Barland stated it is a great opportunity to be able to work <br /> 25 in the excellent town of St. Anthony. <br /> 26 Mayor Ranallo welcomed the Police Officers and asked them to please "stay safe". <br /> 27 <br /> 28 A. Planning Commission - February 18, 1997. <br /> 29 1. Larry Beach; for Verkins Addition; rezoning, replatting, and backyard setback <br /> 30 variance requests. <br /> 31 Planning Commissioner John Delmonico was present to report on the issues addressed at the <br /> 32 February 18, 1997 Planning Commission meeting. <br /> 33 Commissioner Delmonico reported that the Planning Commission had considered a rezoning, • <br /> 34 replatting, and backyard setback request of 12 feet for the Verkins Property at 29th Avenue <br /> 35 and Highway 88. A Public Hearing was held and one resident expressed opposition to the <br />
