City Council Meeting Minutes <br /> February 9, 1999 <br /> Page 10 <br /> 1 did not even report. He stated the Council does not suffer from lack of vision.in the face of this <br /> 2 immense problem and expressed his support of the resolution. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 Faust stated he had served on the floods task force, and it was decided that the minimum standard <br /> 5 which the City could accept was 100 year flood protection. He added 13 flood areas were <br /> 6 identified within the City, and agreed that many people have-not come forward with flooding <br /> 7 problems. He expressed his commitment to the provision of 100 year flood protection for the <br /> 8 City's residents, adding he would not relent from that end result. <br /> 9 <br /> 10 Ranallo stated the Council has been concerned with this problem for many years, and the issue <br /> 11 was a difficult one because of the difficulties in taking property and the costs involved. He <br /> 12 added the storm water fund was passed, and recently City residents have been telling the <br /> 13 legislators they should not have provided the funding: He expressed concern that with this <br /> 14 development the City will be unable to obtain further funding from the State. <br /> 15 <br /> 16 Ranallo stated a project of this kind is a way to solve the flooding problems of the City and other <br /> 17 communities with flooding issues. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 Motion by Faust, second by Thuesen to approve Resolution 99-016, ordering improvements. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 B. Assessments (Resolution 99-017, re: Adopt and confirm assessments for 1999 street and <br /> 24 utility improvements.) <br /> 25 Motion by Thuesen, second by Marks to approve Resolution 99-017, adopting and confirming <br /> 26 assessments for various public improvements. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 29 <br /> 30 C. Resolution 99-018, re: Award bid for 1999 street and utility improvements. <br /> 31 Motion by Marks, second by Cavanaugh to approve Resolution 99-018, awarding a bid for 1999 <br /> 32 street and water main improvements. <br /> 33 <br /> 34 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 D. Resolution 99-019, re: Call for sale of General Obligation Improvement Bonds. <br /> 37 Motion by Marks, second by Faust to approve Resolution 99-019, calling for the sale of general <br /> 38 obligation improvement bonds, series 1999A. <br /> 39 <br /> 40 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 41 <br />
