MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: March 17, 1999 <br /> TO: Michael J. Mornson, City Manager <br /> FROM: Kim Moore-Sykes, Management Assistant *' <br /> ITEM: March 16d' Planning Commission Meeting Summary <br /> 1. Planning Commission Representative. Anthony Kaczor has been designated as the <br /> Planning Commission Representative to the City Council for the March 23rd meeting. <br /> 2. Public Hearings. <br /> A. 99-01 Sideyard Setback Variance, J. Roger Bona, 2801 Kenzie Terrace. Mr. <br /> Bona petitioned for a 10-foot sideyard variance to the west sideyard setback of his <br /> property so that he could construct a cold storage addition. It is his intention to <br /> store used tires for disposal, business-related inventory and snow removal <br /> equipment. The Planning Commission voted unanimously to approve Mr. Bona's <br /> variance request. <br /> 3. Concept Review. <br /> A. Sunset Memorial Park, Sideyard Variance for the Construction of a Sidewalk <br /> Around the Mausoleum. Ted Dirkman and Dennis Bridges presented their report <br /> on the need for the sidewalk. They had several issues regarding accessibility, <br /> safety for mourners and safety issues for employees who inter the remains in the <br /> mausoleum crypts. Both gentlemen will be at their public hearing scheduled for <br /> the April Planning Commission meeting. <br /> 4. Report from the Parks Commission. <br /> Doug Koehntop, Vice Chair of the Parks Commission, reported on their efforts to procure <br /> equipment for the Water Tower Park. He showed the park plan and equipment designs <br /> and indicated that these would be presented to the City Council on March 23'd <br /> 5. Discussion of Goals for 1999. Many Commissioners reported favorable impressions of <br /> their meeting with the City Council on March 9'' and are anxious to begin work on their <br /> 1999 goals. Commissioner Hanson commented that he thought a Councilmember liaison <br /> was to be at their meeting. He asked Staff when this was going to start. <br /> 6. Comments. Commissioner Gondorchin submitted his resignation to the Planning <br /> Commission. He stated that because he had accepted a different position with the <br /> company he works for, he will be unable to attend Tuesday night meetings. He said he <br /> very much enjoyed serving on the Planning Commission and wished everyone well. <br /> 7. Adjournment. The Planning Commission meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m. <br />
