3303 33rd Avenue Northeast
Independent School District 282 St. Anthony, Minnesota 55418
http://www.stanthony.k 12.mn.us
July 1, 1999 Telephone: 612-706-1000
Fax: 612-706-1020
z
I Mr. Mike Morrison
+ City Manager
• ; "y City of St. Anthony
3301 Silver Lake Road
c St. Anthony, MN 55418
Dear Mike:
ZThe St. Anthony-New Brighton School District will be soliciting bids in the near
future for the construction of a fire road around our high school/middle school
complex. We have been ordered by the Deputy State Fire Marshall that we must
i
make such improvements to be in compliance with the state fire codes.
Larson Engineering of White Bear Lake will be providing all engineering
services on the project. Copies of the project drawings have been sent to Jay
Hartman for review. We are estimating that this project will be done in two
phases. The first phase to be completed this fall, will include reconstruction of
the northeast parking lot and construction of a new fire road on the north side of
the facility, including the installation of a watermain and hydrants along the
• entire roadway. The second phase will be completed mid year 2000. This
project will consist of a fire road on the west side of the facility again including a
watermain and hydrants. We would like to make improvements to the existing
city owned service road which currently runs along the west side of our middle
school building. This would be beneficial to both the City and the District.
Also included in the drawings is an alternate bid which would rehabilitate the
roadway that splits off of the existing west side roadway. This would include
reclamation of the existing roadway. The City would have all financial
responsibility for this phase of the project if you were to accept a bid. The
District bid this as a courtesy thus saving you engineering costs and possibly
higher construction costs if bid separately.
Please review this request at your earliest convenience and advise me as to how
the City would like to proceed with this. Your cooperation in this project would
be greatly appreciated. Please contact me at(612)706-1007 with any questions.
Sincerely,
Shari Thompson
• Director of Business Services
. . .
