Year 2000 Annual Planning Commission Report <br /> City of St. Anthony Village <br /> • As defined in Section 305 of City of St. Anthony Ordinances: <br /> Structure: <br /> -Composed of seven members appointed by the City Council with staggered terms <br /> -Is advisory to City Council <br /> -Holds one meeting per month, if necessary <br /> -Serve without compensation <br /> Powers and Duties: <br /> -Review and make recommendations to the Council as to a comprehensive municipal <br /> plan <br /> -Consider and make recommendations to the Council as to all proposed subdivisions <br /> and plats <br /> -Consider and make recommendations to the Council as to all proposed amendments <br /> regarding zoning <br /> -Consider and make recommendations on conditional use permit applications <br /> -Review all applications for variance to zoning, hold hearings and make <br /> recommendations to the Council <br /> -Review requests for sign variances <br /> -If matter is referred from Council, Commission must make recommendation to Council <br /> within 60 days <br /> Calendar Year 1999 Actions <br /> During calendar year 1999, the Planning Commission performed the following official <br /> • actions: <br /> -Held 11 public hearings <br /> -9 variance requests <br /> -1 replatting request <br /> -1 redevelopment plan <br /> -2 conditional use permits <br /> -Held 5 concept reviews <br /> -Held 1 joint meeting with City Council <br /> Upcoming Activities for Calendar Year 2000 <br /> 1. Apache Plaza- Hillcrest Development is rapidly developing plans for the demalling of <br /> Apache Plaza. We recommend that the Council authorize the City Manager to retain <br /> the planning firm of Dahlgren, Shardlow, Uban (DSU) as soon as possible to work with _ <br /> Hillcrest Development on behalf of the City during this major redevelopment project. <br /> 2. Joint Meeting with City Council-We look forward to the joint meeting with the City <br /> Council on April 18. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:30 pm., and run until 7:00, <br /> at which time the regular Planning Commission meeting will begin. This meeting will <br /> serve as a forum to discuss planning-related issues of concern to both the Commission <br /> and the Council. <br /> 3. Bus Tour- We have scheduled a bus tour of the City for Planning Commission <br /> • members on the morning of April 15. The purpose of the tour is to acquaint the <br /> Planning Commission members with physical conditions in the city, including housing <br /> stock, commercial and industrial districts, for comparison with proposed actions in the <br /> Comprehensive Plan as well as likely redevelopment efforts. <br />
