City Council Regular Meeting Minutes 02 <br /> October 28, 2003 <br /> Page 2 <br /> 1 Motion by Councilmember Faust seconded by Councilmember Thuesen, to approve the Consent <br /> 2 Agenda items with the noted change above. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 5 <br /> 6 V. PUBLIC HEARINGS. <br /> 7 None. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 VI. REPORTS FROM COMMISSIONS AND STAFF. <br /> 10 A. Kathy Anderson, a representative of Congressman Sabo. <br /> 11 Mayor Hodson welcomed Kathy Anderson to the meeting. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 Ms. Anderson, a representative of Congressman Sabo, addressed Council and provided an <br /> 14 update on the local office for District 5 and its local constituents. She stated the 108d' Congress <br /> 15 is about to adjourn. Ms. Anderson noted Congressman Sabo works on several sub-committees <br /> 16 including the Homeland Security Committee and the Commerce Justice and State <br /> 17 Subcommittees. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 Ms. Anderson noted her office was trying to keep the constituents in District 5 informed and <br /> 20 invited the public to use the Internet to view information on the Congressman. She noted this <br /> 21 district had several openings in the ROTC program and asked for the public to contact her if they <br /> 22 knew of any recruits interested in this program. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 Ms. Anderson stated Flags can be flown over the capitol for those in this District. She <br /> 25 encouraged those in the area to check into this as a great gift or remembrance for family <br /> 26 members. Ms. Anderson indicated all mail to Washington D.C. was slow due to the ongoing <br /> 27 threat of anthrax. She encouraged the public to email as it is faster. Ms. Anderson noted there <br /> 28 are limited tours to the White House at this time and are on a first come first serve basis with 10 <br /> 29 spots available a week. She indicated any one interested could contact her office. Ms. <br /> 30 Anderson left her card and a bio on the Congressman with the Council and offered to answer for <br /> 31 questions. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 Councilmember Thuesen suggested putting the bio information on Congressman Sabo on the <br /> 34 City website. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 Councilmember Faust stated that St. Anthony has been blessed by the fact that Congressmen <br /> 37 Sabo was part of the TCAAP water purification plant. He indicated that Congressman Sabo was <br /> 38 responsible for receiving a$10 million grant for the plant. <br /> 39 <br /> 40 B. Lynette Wittsack representing the Metropolitan Council. <br /> 41 Mayor Hodson welcomed Lynette Wittsack to the meeting. <br /> 42 <br /> 43 Ms. Wittsack, representing the Metropolitan Council, addressed Council and provided an update <br /> 44 on her representation of the City of St. Anthony. She indicated she was very interested in this <br /> 45 community as she grew up in the area. Ms. Wittsack explained she spent the afternoon with <br /> 46 Susan Hall, the City Planner, and indicated she toured current developments. She stated she was <br /> 47 very excited to be a part of the community and asked if the Council had any questions. <br />
