He suggested a possible mesh covering. He. <br /> 4 concluded in noting his preference.for option C due to it promoting the message over the City <br /> 5 logo. <br /> 6 <br /> 7 Councilmember Thuesen stated his likeness for option C as well. He indicated that aesthetically, <br /> 8 it is the best design and gets the message out. He addressed his concerns,with regard to safety <br /> 9 issues, in stating that he prefers the red LED to the amber and that the top of the sign be closed. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 Mayor Hodson inquired as to the life expectancy of the sign. Mr. Clark assured Mayor Hodson <br /> 12 that McKay has a five-year warranty on electronics, adding that LED has up to 100,000 hours <br /> 13 and are extremely efficient. He indicated that he has not seen any signs with LED require <br /> 14 maintenance. <br /> 15 <br /> 16 Mayor Hodson questioned as to how the software upgrades are received to access the sign via a <br /> 17' phone line. Mr. Clark responded in stating that the software company is local with good <br /> 18 representation and follow-up. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 Councilmember Stille questioned the variance approved at the last Council meeting and if it <br /> 21 should be rescinded. City Manager Mornson indicated that it would be a"good idea to add it to <br /> 22 the motion along with stating that this sign meets all the requirements of the ordinance. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 C. Update on Restaurant for Stonehouse Redevelopment - Jim Winkels, Amcon <br /> 25 presenting. <br /> 26 Mayor Hodson reported that Mr. Winkels was unable to attend due to conflicts with meetings <br /> 27 scheduled out of the area. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 City Manager Mornson indicated that Mr. Winkels will be in attendance at the September 14, <br /> 30 2004 Council meeting to provide an update. He added that a deal should be done by then, <br /> 31 therefore, his update will reveal the new restaurant. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 VII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCILMEMBERS. <br /> 34 City Manager Mornson reported the following: <br /> 35 1. Silver Lake Village Updates are as follows: <br /> 36 a. 39th Avenue progress is being made, with an opening scheduled for September, <br /> 37 2004, as planned. <br /> 38 b. The removal of Apache Plaza and the Village Properties building will take place <br /> 39 after September 15, 2004. <br /> 40 c. The removal of Taco Bell and the liquor store will take place after September.4, <br /> 41 2004. <br /> 42 d. City liquor store last day of business September 4, 2004. The re-opening of the <br /> 43 new store will be around September 16,2004. <br /> 44 e. Grand Opening scaled back to more of the same as the Store 1 Celebration, <br /> 45 taking place sometime around the end of September or the first week of October. <br /> 46 A larger celebration will take place next year. <br />
