They included: <br /> a second elevator in each bui-lding to accommodate senior renters; <br /> much .more storage space; <br /> ,*provision of more landscaping, including mature trees around the proj ect <br /> site and the pond area; <br /> *walkways in that same area; <br /> .*a quality project which could easily be converted to condominiums if market <br /> conditions change in that regard at a later date. <br /> Commissioner Jones -concluded his statement by reporting that the people at <br /> the hearing seemed to believe "there was a need for quality rental housing <br /> for seniors in that area. " And, in his own opinion, the project before them <br /> that evening met that criteria, the Commissioner said. <br /> Project Manager Commends Chair F ranzese for "Constructive" Hearing <br /> Mr. Yurick said the developers had been impressed with the way in the Commission <br /> Chair had conducted the hearing. He s.aid things could easily have gotten out <br /> of hand, but "instead of degenerating into a negative meeting, the developers- <br /> had been able to incorporate some very constructive suggestions from the public <br /> into the proposal being presented that evening." <br /> Mr. Tushie agreed that the ch'anges in the plan they were presenting that -evening <br /> -had. evolved from input received at the- hearing. <br /> The plans he then discussed with the Councilmembers- i.ncluded: <br /> *two buildings, each .with .150 units; <br /> *two 'e' leyators .for '6ach building; <br /> *continuation of green space all around the. buildings as well as in- the <br /> center of the site; <br /> *the- runoff retenti on pond returned as the project centerpi'ece with a <br /> network of s,idewalks in the -area; . . . <br /> pathways to be "wide enough, for passage of, emergency vehicles-!, <br /> .300 parking spaces .o,n' site .(176 'Interior, 124 exterior) , <br /> *six -6f'those -spaces to be sited near -the 202 .project which: -is experienc,ing, <br /> *provision for 35 'additio.nal parking spaces in the* green island areas <br /> if need arises late� on; <br /> "lock-type", poles to ,be located .in- these- areas -to provide emergency access <br /> 'for publit. safety �vehicles. <br />
