i <br /> -6- <br /> Ranallo said- that could also be vandalized.. . <br /> Makowske -thanked Mr. Johnson for bringing his problem to the atten- <br /> tion of the Council because that was the only way they <br /> could be aware of the problems. <br /> Mr. Childs -promised to take care of the matter . <br /> REPORTS <br /> COUNCIL <br /> Mayor ' s Report on National League of Cities Conference; Washington D.C. , <br /> February 28 - March 3 , 1987 <br /> Mayor Sundland reported he and Councilmember Marks had attended the <br /> above conference and information on the policies the League would be <br /> supporting had been given to the other Council members. <br /> The Mayor indicated that during the .continuation of his discussions with <br /> Senator Durenberger and Congressman Sabo and their staffs related to the <br /> City' s water contamination problems, he had been assured that events <br /> were moving along in the proper direction. He said he had urged both <br /> legislators to continue to do whatever they could to prevent "glitches • <br /> in the bureaucracy" which would prolong a solution to those problems any <br /> further. Mayor Sundland said he had asked both legislators to let the <br /> City know about any changes which might hurry the process along. <br /> In talking to other municipal officials about their concerns, the Mayor <br /> said he had again been . struck - by the similarities of problems <br /> experienced all over the country. He said he had come away again <br /> reassured that some of the actions taken by the City after <br /> "brainstorming" closely resembled . the response other cities had made to <br /> the same problem. <br /> Enrooth Suggests a Tour of the City Might Reinforce the Need for the <br /> Proposed Ordinance Changes <br /> The Councilmember said he had driven around the City to see what' s going <br /> on when it came to parking and number of vehicles parked in the <br /> residential areas of the City in relation to the Ordinance being <br /> developed to address the problems in these areas. He said his research <br /> had uncovered a "fair number of ' places which could use some <br /> encouragement to clean things up -a bit.
