City Council Reports <br /> 5 The City of St. Anthony received a Hennepin County 1990 Partner- <br /> L ship Award for the best regional recycling program in 1990. Mayor <br /> 7 Ranallo felt the lion's share of the credit for the success of this <br /> 9 program was due to the efforts of Councilmember Enrooth. Council- <br /> 9 Enrooth recognized that the major efforts of coordinating <br /> 11 the program came from Sue VanderHeyden. <br /> 12 The City's Neighborhood Crime Watch Program is an interest of Council- <br /> 13 member Fleming. She has visited with Chief Engstrom regarding in- <br /> i4 creasing the number of participants and neighborhoods in the Program. <br /> 15 A program has been initiated in Councilmember Fleming 's neighborhood <br /> 16 and its first meeting will be held at Councilmember Wagner's home. <br /> 17 <br /> 18 Mayor Ranallo recalled the Police Department sponsored "Night Out" <br /> 19 activates from last year had met with modest success in four areas <br /> 20 of the City. He requested the City Manager to gather information <br /> 21 on this subject from the Police Department and coordinate publicity <br /> 22 and activities for this year. <br /> 23 <br /> 24, The City Manager stated that the City's new intern, David Urbia, <br /> 25 would coordinate the "Night Out" activities. <br />. 26 <br /> 27 The City Manager formally introduced David Urbia. <br /> �8 <br /> �9 The Mayor noted that November 23, 1991 is the tentative date selected <br /> 30 for a fundraiser for the D.A.R. E. Program. Angie Eklund is coordinating <br /> 31 the planning for the fundraiser and hopes to have the services of Paul <br /> 32 Todd for entertainment. <br /> 33 <br /> 34 Mayor Ranallo and Councilmember Wagner will be attending a land use <br /> 35 and zoning seminar on May 29th sponsored by the Popham, Haik & <br /> 36 Snobrich law firm. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 Councilmember Enrooth indicated his willingness to work with the City <br /> 39 Manager to gather data for a water quality study- program for Silver <br /> 40 Lake and to focus on the lake as a oatural resource. <br /> 41 <br /> 42 Councilmember Wagner noted that the St. Anthony Kiwanis Club will <br /> J-3 be volunteering at the Special Olympics in July. Training sessions <br /> 44 are being given for anyone interested in volunteering. Bus trips <br /> 6c; to some of the Special Olympics events are being organized by the <br /> 46 Kiwanis Club as well . All of the events are free, but Councilmember <br /> 47 Wagner said all of the tickets for the aquatic meets are already <br /> 48 given out. He will be meeting with the Chamber of Commerce regarding <br /> 49 member participation and will pursue the placement of a banner across <br /> so Silver Lake Road recognizing the country athletes being hosted by St. <br /> • <br />
