She advised that the 1990 contribution to the <br /> 3 Bureau from the City was 57,873.00, the 1991 contribution waEg- <br /> 9 55, 007. 00 and t`,e Bureaj's request from the City for 1992 ie <br /> SS ,:'2 l .:- . T:,e 19 VZ recuest is based on the same basis as the <br /> ott,er ter, cities which are members of the Joint Powers agreement <br /> " at beinc population. <br /> _ . Freerar, noted th at. St . Anthony has never been a part of the Join= <br /> _5 Powers Agreement and has never been under the same contribution <br /> _= ouid=lines as the other cities. The increase is 3% plus an <br /> _7 ad;ustm ent for population over the next two years. She advised <br /> _° t`.at services of the Bureau are still provided at the Wilshire <br /> .9 Park Sc`,00l , the Middle School and at the High School . <br /> 20 <br /> 21 Freeman , who has aer.ved on the Board for one year, has noticed <br /> 22 that the clientele in the City is changing. She feel& the <br /> 23 addition of the Health Center is a real plus to the operation. It <br /> 24 was her opinion that residents of St. Anthony ahould be making <br /> 25 better use of the services available at the Bureau and has been <br /> 26 working closely with the Police Chief. <br /> Kay Andrews, Executive Director of the Youth Services Bureau, <br /> 29 advised that the Bureau provides intervention/treatment services <br /> 30 whereas the D.A.R.E. Program provides prevention services. This <br /> 31 comment was in response to a question regarding funding available <br /> 32 for these types o2 services. <br /> 3.3 <br /> 34 Councilmember Marks observed that the record of repeat offenders <br /> 35 is very impressive as there are very few. He was particularly <br /> 36 impressed with the teen suicide program which helped friends of <br /> 37 those who had committed suicide. <br /> 38 <br /> 39 Mayor Ranallo indicated his concern with the longevity of the <br /> 40 programs of the Bureau and questioned what is being considered <br /> 41 for financial sources in the future. <br /> 42 <br /> 43 Andrews responded that no new programs have commenced that were <br /> 44 not fee based and £ses can be earned through the Youth Employment <br /> 45 Program. <br /> 46 <br /> 47 Andrews .told the Council of a pilot volunteer program recently <br /> 48 started by Firater Bank of Now Brighton. Employees of the bank <br /> 49 have adopted the agency and will supply forty employees who will <br /> 50 offer their volunteer services to the Bureau. She noted that the <br /> 51 Bureau is still receiving some corporate and local donations but <br /> 2 these have decreased in amount. <br /> 4 <br />
