CALL TO ORDER <br /> 5 The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Chairperson Madden who led the <br /> 6 Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> 7 2. ROLL CALL <br /> 8 Present: Brownell,Faust,Franzese,Gondorchin,Madden,and Werenicz. <br /> 9 Absent: Murphy. <br /> 10 Staff Present: City Manager Burt and Management Assistant Urbia. <br /> 11 3. APPROVAL OF DECEMBER 17, 1991 PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES <br /> Motion by Brownell, second by Gondorchin to approve the minutes of the December <br /> W3 17, 1991 Planning Commission meeting. <br /> 14 Motion carried unanimously <br /> 15 4. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> 16 There were no public hearings scheduled. <br /> 17 5. APACHE SQUARES <br /> 18 City Manager Burt provided the staff report. The owners of the Apache Squares <br /> 19 shopping center wish to inquire if it would be possible to lease space to tenant(s) <br /> 20 which are not allowed for in a commercial zoning district. Their inquiry into this <br /> 21 issue is due to a high retail vacancy rate at Apache Squares, other St. Anthony retail <br /> 22 centers, and throughout the metropolitan area and nation. Apache Squares would <br /> 23 like the City of St. Anthony to reconsider the commercial district section in the <br /> 24 zoning ordinance, so as to permit light industrial types of uses within a commercial <br /> 25 district. <br /> 26 The owners of Apache Squares, Jim and Dave Koch, and their real estate agent, Jim <br /> 27 Moche of Accent Real Estate Company, were present to discuss their inquiry. <br /> Currently, there are only two tenants out of the six to seven potential tenant spaces. <br /> 9 According to Mr. Moche, a problem of vacancy is the loss of property tax to the city <br />
