i
PLANNING COMMISSION
MAY 19 , 1992
PAGE 6

will be discussing the City ' s Comprehensive Plan at its
June meeting. Rezoning of the Bona property could be
considered at that time . He also mentioned there appears
to be some confusion regarding some of the zoning in that
area .

Chairman Faust inquired if an expansion of the service
station coul-d be done without any reviewal by the
Planning Commission nor any authorization from the City
Council . The City Manager responded that there would be
no need to appear before either bodies for the owner to
expand the size of the building. He questioned the wisdom of this and also
wondered if any considerations are being given to moving
the location of the Montessori School .

The City Manager stated the liquor store presently does
not pay rent and would have this added expense if it were
to be moved . The Montessori School will not be moved as
there is no space available to house it .

The City Manager said there could be a three phase
approach to this project ; 1 ) berming, 2 ) addressing other
areas , and 3 ) total elimination of the liquor operation .

Mr . Horst inquired if there are plans to block off the
alley behind the shopping center . The City Manager noted
that this had appeared on one of the plans but a possible
alternative would be to vacate Coolidge and give it over
for the use of shopping center merchants .

Chairman Faust inquired if any thought had been given to
pedestrian crosswalks . He observed the pedestrian traffic
in the area recently. It is his opinion that pedestrians
do not use the crosswalks where they are presently
located.

The City Manager responded that this issue will be part
of a concentrated study .
