City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> June 27, 1995 <br /> • Page 3 <br /> 1 like a representative from the cities of St.Anthony,New Brighton, Arden Hills and <br /> 2 Shoreview. <br /> 3 Motion by Marks, second by Fleming to appoint Richard Enrooth as the official <br /> 4 representative to Twin City Arsenal. <br /> 5 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 6 Ranallo reported the City has the plans for the Community Center. The School Board has <br /> 7 agreed to contribute $96,000 per year rental, $86,000 for the community service section <br /> 8 and $10,000 for the gym. The School Board has asked there be an open forum to discuss <br /> 9 these plans with the community. There was Council direction to place a copy of the plans <br /> 10 on a wall at City Hall and also have a copy available at the St. Anthony Library for <br /> 11 residents to view. Ranallo indicated the Sports Boosters will use the gym every night for <br /> 12 five months of the year and Community Service will use part of the gym during the day <br /> 13 for smaller programs. <br /> 14 Enrooth indicated he had met with the Sports Boosters last week and they have agreed to <br /> 15 contribute approximately$50,000 for the next five years. This figure is based on 42% of <br /> their total net profit. <br /> 17 B. Council. <br /> 18 Enrooth reported Village Fest plans are proceeding well. The Committee will meet <br /> 19 Thursday, June 27th and each Thursday thereafter until August 5th. <br /> 20 Ranallo stated Village Fest will include a golf tournament on Friday; family activities, <br /> 21 parade, entertainment,band and fireworks at dusk on Saturday; and Kiwani's pancake <br /> 22 breakfast on Sunday. <br /> 23 Marks reported the Sister City Committee is still working on preparations for the arrival <br /> 24 of the Lindquists on August 1,1995. He,invited anyone who would like to participate in <br /> 25 a group who will be meeting the Lindquists at the airport at 2:14 p.m. He reported there <br /> 26 is a picnic scheduled for August 4th which City Council and other various groups will be <br /> 27 invited to and dinner with the City Council is scheduled for August 1 st. It is also <br /> 28 anticipated the Lindquists will be making a trip to the North Shore. <br /> 29 Marks suggested Mr. Charles Glotzbach, who was Company Commander in World War <br /> 30 I1, be honored in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary Celebration. He indicated he <br /> 31 would distribute copies of a Newsweek article which was written regarding his service. <br />
