STAFF REPORT
DATE: November 18, 1997
TO: Planning Commission Members
FROM: Kim Moore-Sykes, Management Assistant
ITEM: Proposed Sign Plan for 2400 - 37th, Stop 'N Go.
Mr. Jim Sarna has recently purchased the Stop 'N Go service station on the corner of
Stinson Boulevard and 37th Avenue NE and it will become a Citgo affiliated gas station.
Mr. Sarna has submitted the attached sign proposal for the City's consideration.
1. No pylon sign. Mr. Sarna feels that because of the stop signs and telephone
pole, a pylon sign is obstructed and not noticed by motorists.
2. Monument Signs.
a. Mr. Sarna is proposing to place a lit double-sided monument sign at
each curb cut. There are two curb cuts on the property. The design
of the proposed monument signs are shown on the Signs/Poles page.
He would prefer the second design standard. These signs would
exceed the 68 SF maximum for a double-sided ground sign. Each
proposed monument sign is 6 feet by 8 feet and has a total of 96 SF of
signage. OR
b. If two monument signs would not be acceptable, he is requesting one
lit double-sided monument sign and a lit twin post canopy island sign
_. (Page 2, design by the 'X')
3. Wall Signs. Mr. Sarna is proposing wall signs similar to what exists now.
i
