Parks Commission Meeting Minutes <br /> February 12, 2001 <br /> Page 6 <br /> In response to an inquiry from Hartman, Mr. Kost explained that the anticipated cost for <br /> 2 electrical was $300,000, and the estimate is at$400,000 (including about $87,500 for circuitry <br /> 3 and controls). 'Jenson pointed out that the overall cost of the project is still within projections. <br /> 4 VI. APPOINT CONSTRUCTION LIAISON FOR CENTRAL PARK REDEVELOPMENT. <br /> 5 Jindra and Wagner are both interested in acting as the Construction Liaison for Central Park <br /> 6 Redevelopment. It was agreed by the Parks Commissioners that both Jindra and Wagner will act <br /> 7 as Construction Liaisons as it will be a lengthy project, and one of them can serve as an alternate. <br /> 8 VII. REPORTS. <br /> 9 A. Community Services. <br /> 10 Skrivseth reported that the summer playground program numbers from last year as follows: <br /> 11 64 children, first through fifth grades, M-F afternoons. <br /> 12 30 children, 3 years old to 5 years old, three mornings a week. <br /> 13 Skrivseth inquired as to whether the new shelter will be available by the summer of 2002 to <br /> 14 which she was informed that it will not be as this is a two-year project. <br /> B. School Board. <br /> 7 None. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 C. Sports Boosters. <br /> 20 Zurbey reported that a meeting was held with the subcommittee where the plan was distributed <br /> 21 and asked for feedback, but no feedback was received except a question regarding drinking <br /> 22 fountains. Jindra noted that the plan includes 3 or 4 drinking fountains. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 Zurbey added that there is a concern with backstops in regard to foul balls and the subcommittee <br /> 25 discussed raising the height of the fences on the outfields. Varsity and Junior Varsity will be 24 <br /> 26 A. and the others will be 20 ft. <br /> 27 Jenson noted that the slope from the Varsity .outfield to the hockey rink will go from a 3%grade <br /> 28- to a 1% grade. Zurbey commented that a 3 ft. retaining-wall is being considered, along a section <br /> 29 of the fire road by the outfield. Ganley, Jenson, and Zurbey agreed that a gate in the fence should <br /> 30 be added for access from near the gym. <br /> 31 VIII. OTHER BUSINESS. <br /> 32 Jindra gave an update that Hennepin Parks has made an offer to purchase the Salvation Army <br /> 33 property. This will require the support of the City Council. Ganley stated he would encourage the <br /> 4[5 City Council approval. <br /> Jindra added that those who would like to show their support are welcome to attend the City <br /> 36 Council meeting on Tuesday, February 13, 2001. <br />
