St. Anthony Chemical Abuse Information Committee Minutes- Sept. 18, 1984 <br /> Members Present: Jean Klosterman, Shelley Freeman and Karen Thorsen-Quinn <br /> 1. Minutes: Amended to add a donation from the STA Middle School PTSA of $50.00' <br /> to be used for the purchase of Sports, Kids and Drugs pamphlets. <br /> 2. Treasure's Report: None. $119.66 was, paid for postage on the SKD pamphlets. <br /> 3. Old Business: <br /> A. Shelley reported that the SKD Program was well attended with many positive <br /> comments from parents and teachers.Copies ofaletter of appreciation from <br /> Sroga's was passed out to members as well as a letter from the Sport's Boosters <br /> making a committment to pay up to $500.00 to various teams to sponsor after <br /> game chemical-free parties/activities. All coaches have been notified of this <br /> money, along with the names of those parents who signed up to help organise <br /> these parties. <br /> The make-up session for the SKD program will be held on Sept. 24th at 2r30PM. <br /> B. Budget request for 1985 for $1200.00 was approved. Shelley will contact Dave <br /> Childs about these funds. <br /> C. Other: A thank you note and honorarium of $50.00 will be sent to George Marks <br /> for his fine presentation at the SKD Program. <br /> A remembetance gift will be sent to Evelyn Holthus in appreciation of her <br /> service on the STA Chemical Abuse Information Committee. <br /> 4. New Business <br /> A. Shelley will put an article in the FOCUS and possibly the Bulletin requesting <br /> new members for the STA Chemical Ab. In. Comm. She will also talk to Dave <br /> Childs about getting two new members appointed from the city. <br /> B. Shelley is training several teachers from the Middle/H.S. to lead support <br /> groups within the schools. Jim Malrick will be working with her as a peer <br /> tutor and group co-leader as well. There will be a wide variety of groups <br /> offered. <br /> C. Shelley passed out an updated copy of the school district policy on chemical R <br /> use and commented on changes made this year. <br /> D. 1994-85 Goals <br /> : <br /> 1. Follow up on the SKD Program. s <br /> 2. Update and distribute emergency cards and pamphlets in the spring. <br /> 3. Investigate resources available for community/school programs. <br /> Shelley will look into ordering the film "Sons and Daughters-Drugs and F. <br /> Booze" for previewing. <br /> E, John Sullivan is the new Youth Services Bureau social worker responsible for <br /> servicing our district. <br /> r <br /> F. Next meeting- consider a name change for this committee Committee members <br /> are asked to bring suggestions. <br /> 5 <br /> G.
