Childs, City Manager <br /> ------------------------------------------------------------------------ <br /> SU;TMARY DISCUSSION OF SUBJECT: The attached documents summarize the 1985 City <br /> budget which projects General Fund expenditures of $1 ,609,330 or an increase of <br /> 4.4% over 1984. As shown on the attached charts , the total City tax levy is <br /> expected to be 12.674 mills . For a taxpayer with a home with an assessors market <br /> value of S81 ,000 (average for St. Anthony) , the City share of taxes before homestead <br /> credits will be :213. 70 or 519.44 more than in 1984. For a home with an assessors <br /> market value of $100,000, the City share of property taxes before homestead credits <br /> would be $285 .92 or S26.94 more than in 1984. Reasons for the increase in taxes <br /> beyond the corresponding 4% budget increase include a 17.9% decrease in budgeted <br /> • revenues from the liquor operation ($396,000 in 1984 to 5324,000 in 1985) and <br /> 9% less in state aids from the City' s 1983 allocation. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the budget be adopted and the tax levy <br /> be established as shown on Resolution 84-045. <br /> CI` Y MANAGER'S REVIEW: COMMENTS : <br />
