MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE : February 4, 1987 <br /> T O : David Childs, City Manager <br /> Department Heads <br /> F R O M : Connie Kroeplin, Administrative Secretary <br /> I T E M : STAFF MEETING NOTES - FEBRUARY 3, 1987 <br /> The meeting began at 10:05 A.M. Those present were Ray Nelson, Larry Hamer, Lee <br /> Entner, Dave Childs, Connie Kroeplin, Don Hickerson, and Carol Johnson. <br /> Larry Hamer <br /> 1. There were about 60 applications for the mechanics position in the <br /> Public Works Department. After interviewing a dozen applicants, Mark <br /> Hermann was selected. Mr. Hermann has extensive experience with diesel <br /> and automatic engines. He has agreed to attend any additional schooling <br /> needed. <br /> 2. Remodeling of the City Hall offices has begun and is progressing on <br /> schedule. Mr.- Hamer indicated the job should be completed in about a <br /> week and a half to two weeks. As soon as the City Hall is finished, work <br /> will begin on the Stonehouse, if authorized by the Council . <br /> 3. Jim Lorbeski is coordinating a Safety Committee and has requested a person <br /> from each department to be on the Committee. <br /> . 4. It appears that the suggestions made by the City were disregarded in the. <br /> Rice Creek Watershed District Comprehensive Plan. However, as soon as the <br /> plan is finalized, a copy will be forwarded to Councilmember Enrooth. <br /> 5. RCM is checking into the need for a variance for the road width when con- <br /> struction begins on the southern end of St. Anthony Boulevard. , <br /> Don Hickerson <br /> 1. Dick Puffer will be officially retired February 28th. A retirement party <br /> is in the planning process. <br /> Ray Nelson <br /> 1. The roof at the Liquor Warehouse #1 is leaking very badly. <br /> 2. Mr. Nelson would like to schedule a work session with the Council to dis- <br /> cuss off-sale space. <br /> Carol Johnson <br /> 1. Gave the other Department Heads a rough draft of the "new residents" letter <br /> and requested their comments. <br /> 2. Will be attending several meetings concerning the new voting scanners. <br /> Hennepin County will no .longer have lever-type voting machines in use. <br /> Handbooks and schools are being planned for prospective election judges. <br /> The scanners should be ready to use for the 1988 Primary. <br /> The meeting adjourned at 11:30 P .M. <br />
