MEMORANDUM
DATE - May 6., 1987.
TO : David Childs, City Manager -
Department Heads
1F1RC:)D4 = Connie Kroeplin, Administrative Secretary
2 TEM : STAFF MEETING NOTES - MAY 5, 1987
The meeting began at 10: 05 A.M. Those present were Don
Hickerson, Dave Childs, Carol Johnson, and Connie Kroeplin. Lee
Entner, Ray Nelson, and Larry Hamer (attending a building code
seminar) were absent.
Don Hickerson
1. The search for a new police secretary is continuing. Over
40 new applications have been received and are being re-
viewed. The typing and grammar tests for the most quali-
fied- of the applicants will be given on Wednesday., May 13th.
• 2. The new squad car is in use and the police have indicated
it appears to be just what they had ordered.
3 . A seminar relating to bank robberies will be given to
St. Anthony Bank employees.
Carol Johnson
1. Discussed water/sewer charges from the computer company now
that we are renting a terminal as compared to their charges
before we had one. At this point we are paying more for the
present system. However, Mrs. Johnson said our own hardware
and software for a utility billing system would cost about
$5 , 100, which would be very cost effective, as the present
system is costing the City about $5,900+ a year.
2 . There is a bill before the legislature concerning the optical
scan voting machines which appears to be politically motiva-
ted probably by the City of Minneapolis, which may require
modifications to the machines (which hadn' t even been
delivered yet) to the tune of about $500 each.
3 . Carol and Larry Hamer will go to Rochester to view the optic
voting machine on May 19th, -which is that city' s election
day.
Dave Childs
1. The City has received several complaints about large trucks
which are parked on residential property. Mr. Childs asked
Chief Hickerson to issue "courtesy tickets" to offenders and
to provide him with a list of those who receive such warn-
ings.
