1 Police Department to Use Savings From Managing Fitness Program In-House
02 to Purchase a Heavier Duty Treadmill
3 The above proposal had been made in Chief Hickerson's April 17th
4 memorandum where the Police Chief requested permission to use the
5 $1, 200.00 budgeted for a fitness consultant, $300.00 saved from the
6 purchase of a radio, and $1,500.00 already budgeted for equipment to
7 purchase a Trotter Model 440 treadmill for aerobic exercises, which
8 would cost about $2,944.00, or $1,444.00 more than had been budgeted for
9 this equipment.
10 Mr. Childs indicated he agreed with the Chief's assumption that a
11 heavier duty treadmill was needed where so many persons were using the
12 same equipment and pointed out that only a budget transfer was actually
13 being requested.
14 Council Action
15 Motion by Enrooth, seconded by Marks to authorize the necessary budget
16 transfer to allow the Police Department to purchase a Trotter Model 440.
17 treadmill from Tread Aerobics Industries for $2,944.00, as recommended
18 by Police Chief Don Hickerson.
19 Motion carried unanimously.
20 New Signage Approved for City Owned Businesses
1 Ray Nelson, Liquor Operations Manager, was present to answer questions
2 related to new signage proposed for the Stonehouse, 2700 Highway 88,
23 about which the Assistant to the City Manager had written on April 21st
24 memorandum in the agenda packet and reported the two bids which had been
25 received for the proposed signage. Ms. VanderHeyden had recommended the
26 low bid of $6,165.00 from Arrow Sign Company be accepted for, the sign
27 package to include removing the canopy on the east side of the building;
28 moving it to the west side; and removing the existing Restaurant sign
29 from the front of the building.
30 Mr. Nelson clarified the documents in the agenda packet by telling the
31 Councilmembers that:
32 -He anticipated no - problem selling the generic Restaurant sign
33 Mannings had purchased when they moved in.
34 -The 69 foot long, 4 foot deep, back-lit awning would be installed all
35 across the front of the building and would carry the words Stonehouse
36 above the entrance and Dining & Dancing on the left section and Bar
37 & Grill on the right.
38 -Egg crating would prevent the sign lighting from reflecting back into
39 the large window on that side.
• 13
