j!V t
ilia e
DATE : A P PROVA L
June 13 , 1990
TO :
Planning Commission Mpmhprs
:FROM: Sue VanderHeyden, Assistant to the City Manager
S TEM : V. BERGGREN, 2508-38TH AVENUE N.E. , SIGN VARIANCE REQUEST
Mr. Vernon Berggren, owner of the Apache Country Store, 2508-38th Avenue-
N.E. , is requesting a variance to the City sign Ordinance. The City
Sign Ordinance allows for 150 square foot of signage per business.
The variance is to allow a 881. 5 square foot sign as well as a 28 square
foot sign designating the store's entrance. The total proposed signage
would be 909.5 square feet. The existing signage is 927 square feet or
17.5 feet larger than the proposed signage. The substantial size of the
existing and proposed signage is based on the great distance the store
is from Silver Lake Road.
•
NOTE: The City is working with Mr. Berggren and the sign company to
put together a proposal for matching signage at the liquor
store, SAVII. When completed, this proposal will be presented
to the Planning Commission for their recommendation.
PLEASE RETURN THE PLANS FOR THIS REQUEST TO SUE AFTER THE MEETING.
•
SLV:cjk
