Council Reports <br /> 9 <br /> lC Report of Councilmember Waaner <br /> 1 ) Councilmember �Wagner attended the League of Minnesota Cities Annual <br /> 12 Conference in Rochester, Minnesota. He found it. to be well organized <br /> 13 and informative. He felt the City of Rochester was very hospitable; <br /> jy <br /> 15 Councilmember Wagner reported on the status, of the plans for the <br /> 16 Special Olympics which are being held in the Twin City area from <br /> 17 July 19th through July 27th. . St. Anthony is hosting the athletes from <br /> 18 St. Vincent and fourteen athletes are expected as are four coaches. <br /> 19 He noted that all of the athletes will be accommodated in dormatories <br /> 20 in the area and hoped some of them could visit the City. The City's <br /> 21 Chamber of Commerce is coordinating buses and schedules for some of <br /> 22 the residents to attend some of the events. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 Mayor 'Ranallo advised he had applied to be a host family for some of <br /> 25 the athletes or their coaches or families. He received notice that <br /> 26 some members of the San Marino delegation will be staying. at his home. <br /> �7 San Marino is located in Italy and is the smallest province in the <br /> 28 world. Five families- and five athletes are coming to the Special <br /> �9 Olympics .from San Marino. - Mayor Ranallo is hopeful that some of the <br /> 30 family members will be able to attend the July Council meeting. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 Six thousand athletes, two thousand coaches and numerous family members <br /> 33 will be attending and participating in the Special Olympics. <br /> �4 <br /> 5 Report of Councilmember Fleming <br /> 35 <br /> Councilmember Fleming also attended the. League of Minnesota Cities Annual <br /> 37 Conference in Rochester. She felt it was very well organized and thought <br /> 38 there was real benefit to elected officials to be. able. to discuss matters <br /> 39 of mutual interest with other officials. She noted some of these issues <br /> fi <br /> 4 0 addressed attracting young families to reside in your city, nancing <br /> 41 opportunities/problems of smaller cities and crime in smaller cities.. <br /> 42 <br /> 43 Councilmembe-r- F-lem-ing---commended--the r-epor--ter-- f-rom-the-$u_1-le-t_i-n_-f-o-r the <br /> 44 article she had written on the Crime Watch program in S-77 77iony. <br /> LS As a result of this article interest has been expressed by more residents <br /> 46 and two or three more meetings have been set up. <br /> 47 Report of Councilmember Enrooth <br /> 48 While attending the League of Minnesota Cities Annual Conference, Council- <br /> 49 <br /> 50 member Enrooth spoke directly with the National League of Cities rep- <br /> I <br />
