As you are aware, the scope
of that work has changed dramatically from that anticipated when we began work
and established budgets.
At first, our intent was to identify what improvements could be made to the
storm sewer in County Road 88 (CR 88) to increase the outfall capacity for the
City of St. Anthony, and what impact that would have on flooding in District 6.
The CR 88 modeling was completed, but when we discovered that such improvements
would not provide a significant change in flooding experienced within the City,
we began a more detailed analysis of options for ponding and diversion within
District 6. This has resulted in a significant increase in the amount of
modeling required to provide the interim report which is now under review. Some
additional meetings were also involved.
According to my records, our last bill for professional services through
September 28, 1991 exceeded the total contract amount by $465.93. Since that
time, continued analysis has incurred additional fees amounting to approximately
$4,200. Tasks yet to be performed include the meeting with representatives of
other agencies on Friday, November 22 (assume $300) and the incorporation of
City feedback into a final document which recommends specific improvements.
Assuming that the feedback does not require more than two model runs (at about
$750 each) , printing of about 20 copies of the final report and limited time for
editing and rewriting of the report, I estimate the feedback will 'add an
additional $2,500 to the project. To this, I have added two additional meetings
at about $400 each, for a total of about $7,800 to complete the work.
Please advise me regarding how you wish to proceed. Although this study
has gone beyond its original scope, I feel that we have an excellent opportunity
to bring closure to the issues in District 6 and to set a precedent for planning
that will need to be done for other problem areas in the future.
Sincerely,
D nis E.
