' ail hon <br /> 58 oila 'erl <br /> Administrative Offices <br /> 3301 Silver Lake Road, St. Anthony, Minnesota 55418-1699 <br /> J1 <br /> (612) 789-8881 FAX (612) 781-9323 <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> WHEREAS, Minnesota's forest treasures were a significant attraction to early settlers be" use of their <br /> usefulness and the beautiful environment they pro Vided; and <br /> WHEREAS, Trees are an increasingly vital resource today, enriching our lives by puri, ing air and <br /> water, helping conserve soil and energy, creating jobs through a large fl,6t products <br /> industry, serving as recreational settings, providing habitat for wildlife of�11-,kinds, and <br /> making our cities more livable; and <br /> WHEREAS, Human activities such as construction damage and pollution, as well as drA'ght, disease, <br /> I <br /> and insects threaten our trees, creating the need for concerted action to ensu're the future <br /> of urban and rural forests in our city, state, country and world; and <br /> WHEREAS, The next decade will be one emphasizing the environment and people will be able to <br /> positively impact world problems like "global warming" by locally plant�ng trees and <br /> ensuring that these trees are nurtured, protected and wisely used in the yea,s4head; and <br /> WHEREAS, The message of Earth Day whose twentieth anniversary was in 1990 is still strong, <br /> teaching children and adults alike that trees are related to all componen.ts of the <br /> environment- air, water, soil, and wildlife; and <br /> WHEREAS, Each year on the last Friday in April - ARBOR DAY - the residents of t. Anthony <br /> Village pay special attention to the wonderful treasure that our trees resent and <br /> dedicate themselves to the continued health of our urban and rural forests. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the St. Anthony Village hereby <br /> Q <br /> proclaims April 28, 1995 to be ARBOR DAY and the month of May, 1905 to be ARBO, MONTH <br /> in St. Anthony Village. <br /> Mayor <br /> Date <br />
